Opened in 2012 Hastings Contemporary, was formerly was known as the Jerwood Gallery. It features modern and contemporary art of many different types but with a focus on painting. The gallery has a strong reputation and runs regular exhibitions. You can expect to see a range of works, some historically important, national and international artists.
Hastings Contemporary is located on the Stade at the heart of the historic Hastings Old Town. The area is known widely for its vibrant art and music scene. There are lots of interesting independently owned shops, great pubs offering craft beers and restaurants selling locally caught fish. The East Hill Cliff Railway provides access to Hastings Country Park overlooking the Old Town and with fine walks running east along the coast to Fairlight.
